Indeed the applications tab should be populated with the applications installed on your system. Maybe you are missing some package. Do you have xdg-utils installed ? I'm not sure if that's the one that's missing, but you definately seem to be missing something. Similarly the icons missing on your desktop mean something is missing I think. I also use openSUSE, although not currently using the nightly repos, so if you can't find the proper rpm, let me know and I'll try to break mine :) btw, how do you get your screenshots on there?
