This is the bug we agreed is in X: loading an .Xmodmap while X is
running causes a long freeze which seems dependent on how many clients
you have running.
The issue I'm describing only happens with newer enlightenment on 2
different machines, and does not happen with old enlightenment or
cinamon.
Once xmodmap is loaded very early on, I can type éèéèéèéè all day
without issues.
If I upgrade to E 0.21, then it hangs badly after a few characters.

Is there a chance E 0.21 does something different than other WMs and in
turn it still triggers a bug in X?

If the bug is in X and is WONTFIX, then I'll look at other ways to
change my keys though, but so far the bug I described has only been in
newer E.
I'm still curious if Raster can reproduce it with his top of tree build,
or not.
