The idea that it is good enough if it just works should be stopped. Under the pipewire, at minimum, you will need to install the libspa-0.2-plugins package, remove the pulseaudio-module-bluetooth package, and then either reboot your computer or restart the PipeWire services, otherwise device connections will fail with "Protocol not available".
