Canon 50d. Works just fine. The only niggles I've seen are that the
shutter release and live view icons aren't obvious (I thought the
shutter release icon with the gears was for setup/preferences, and
the live view was some sort of zoom); and that in live view, the
progress bar kind of flickers as data is continuously transferred
   from the camera.

Yes, I agree the icons for shutter/live view are not very obvious.
They are just GTK stock icons. I really need to search the free
clip art libraries to find some better public domain icons to use
here.

I've looked at several, and I think the best I've found is one called
"Nuvola." http://www.icon-king.com/projects/nuvola/
I'm attaching the combination of an arrow icon (apps/download_manager.png)
with a camera icon (devices/camera_unmount.png). It's meant to show the
arrow pointing to/pressing the shutter button. For the live preview, either devices/tv.png or apps/krdc.png might work.

Not sure what todo about the progress bar flickering - that's just
a standard GTK widget, so probably a GTK bug.

Maybe just turning the widget off in live view mode (or giving the user
the option to turn it off) would be the simplest thing.
