Hi Tom,
d say is pretty unlikely yod have four switches all with non-operational console ports. More likely is the cable is wrong or the settings dot match. What terminal emulator are you using? How is it configured? Do you get any garble characters appear? Does the cable work on another Enterasys model, or dare I say it, on another vendos switch? Unfortunately it seems like they have been used for some testing or whatsoever. I tried to access it via the console port to clear the config, but somehow I am not able to get any connection at all. Just went through the Installation Guide, reading: The RS232 console port uses a standardpin RJ45 connector. An RJ45 to DB9 adapter is provided with the switch, but you must provide your own RJ45 to RJ45 straightthrough console cable. Everything seems to be clear to me. Got the adapter, one straight-through cable, connected it to the laptop and nothing happens. First I thought of a broken device, but I tested four, all with the same result. Then I changed the adapter, still no connection. Even when I boot the D2 I dont see any output at all. And I just know the password reset button. No config reset. Has anyone an idea how to deal with this?
