Strange....
Just for clarification, you renamed the xpi to
"[email protected]" and put it in \browser\extensions\ ?
Which version do you use? We use 2.34 and it works like exptected. :?

In my recent experience on Windows 7, the default British English
spellcheck dictionary, that which was forked by Marco Pinto, needs to be
unpacked, otherwise the spellcheck is off; as does Zotero LibreOffice
Integration, which complains about not having access to a .oxt file
within the XPI.
