Several people on this list have become quite lucrative in their
AppleScripts, and I wonder if I might suggest a few more that could be
useful.
1) Delete Dupes: When I first set up Entourage and synced with my Palm PDA,
I got quite a lot of duplicate entries in the address book. A script to
look for entries with duplicate names and delete all but the newest one
would be handy for new users--I've already spent hours deleting my dupes
manually. Sure wish I knew more about AppleScript.
2) Title Case: I import annually about 1200 addresses from a database
maintained by the membership chairman of my organization. Here again, I
could use the "delete dupes" script mentioned above. Most importantly,
though, these addresses come in all caps, which I'd like to switch to lower
case. I'm sure this can be easily done in AppleScript. Would this be useful
for others as well?
3) Put email address in email address list: Entourage imported from my
Excel database the home email addresses into the home phone list of
Entourage. Can a script move it, in all 1200 records, to the email tab
where it belongs?
4) Fix Default Address: 99% of my addresses are home addresses, yet the
work address is the default. A script to check for a home address and set
it to the default, if found, would be very useful.
Are any AppleScripters out there interested in taking any of these on, or
at least commenting on if they're practical or even possible?
Thanks,
Rick Johnson
