Two suggestions:
(1) If you ever installed the Office 98 update, there's a known issue that
the Microsoft Tech Support people can help you with: the update installs a
later version of the various MS libraries; any subsequent reinstall of OS
9-9.04 overwrites those libraries and installs earlier ones, which will
badly screw up the operation of any component of Office 98. So you might
have had this trouble in 98 before converting to 2001.
(2) You may have old Office 98 Prefs in the System Folder: Preferences
folder which are in conflict with Office 2001. The installer for 2001 does
not remove these; they have the suffix (8) as opposed to (9) for 2001. Trash
all the (8) files and you may have a cleaner operation....it worked for me.
