I think just redefining the problem may help. You are correct that MLM
messages can't have other rules run on them unless you apply rules to all
MLM messages. However, you can work around that easily enough. Put the rules
that you <want> to apply to MLM messages at the top (e.g., your rule to
modify your mac.com messages), and follow that small set of rules with a
rule that is set to match "is from a mailing list". Have that rule do
nothing, but Check mark the "Do not apply other rules..." box, so no further
rules will apply to MLM messages.
As for non-MLM messages that run a script, again, yes, that terminates
application of rules to that message. Therefore, applying a script has to be
the last thing you do. If you want to apply two scripts, you have to have
the first script load and run the second one; that sort of thing.
I sometimes find the restriction of only one script run to be annoying, but
so far it has never been insurmountable.
