Wow. I never figured that out. It seems that ALL of the scripts that I’ve gotten for Entourage from various places were all created with Apple’s Script Editor—what are the odds of that happening? Opened and saved one from Scripter and bada-bada bing.
Just out of interest:
I create all my Entourage scripts in Smile script Editor, and they always used to be distributed this way. I've probably written about half the scripts that exist for Entourage (65, so far) so chances are you have one. The trouble is – if you don't have Smile, their icons look like like blank generic documents rather than script icons. I have a gizmo that gives them Smile custom icons (they look like Script Editor's, but with a thin red stripe: if you look closely you might discover some.) If you don't have Smile, you should get a dialog from File Exchange that says "Can't find the program that created this: do you want to use …" and it will show you Script Editor and any other script editor you may have.
Because of the blank generic document problem, Erik Barzeski of AppleScript Central started converting all my scripts to Script Editor scripts – at first without telling me. Since it was my own fault for sending some without custom Smile icons (I can't see any difference myself, since I have Smile, so I miss some), I couldn't really object. So they all get distributed as SE Scripts now.
But I'm still eager to let everyone know:
1. They are ALL made in Smile, a great editor which is free.
2. I could never write them in SE, which is far too primitive.
3. My ReadMes all say they were made in Smile – read the ReadMes to the end and you'll see.
