If you don't know > what this is, then you DO have the problem. When I had this problem, it always took a few minutes before the system would freeze; it wasn't instantaneous. You may be having this problem, but it only "looks" like it's occurring on rest. I'd try this; once I did this, Entourage and IE became rock solid.
