Importing Japanese contacts from (Unicode) text file

Title: Importing Japanese contacts from (Unicode) text file

I have a text file with information on a number of my Japanese co-workers that I would like to import into my Entourage address book. The file contains unicode text and I would like to import the contacts into the address book in Japanese format to preserve the furigana for their names. However, when I try to import using the import from text file, the import wizard informs me that what I have is not a text file. How can I import these contacts? (Under MacOS 9.1)
