Agreed, especially if, as you seem fired up to do, they vehemently and
deliberately ignore user feedback, and insist that all users MUST do it
their way, and that whatever users do, is simply wrong.

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but that is exactly the attitude you seem to
give here - particularly for what really is a non-issue.

I don't believe that anyone has asked the impossible from the updater
creator, especially in light of my summary of what would be suggested logic
for it. Again, if this was a common occurrence for updaters, I don't believe
that anyone would complain if every other installer on the market behaved
the same way -- fact remains that almost every other updater package, from
Apple's to Aladdin's and even VISE's is capable of handling the problems
(and doing it well) and issues that gave rise to this discussion. No one is
asking the impossible, by insisting that heavily resedit'd apps be properly
updated.

The fact remains that by considering the summary of suggested logic, a vast
majority of complaints would be addressed, thus negative feedback reduced,
and support time reduced (as I'm sure they also get a helluva number of
support calls from people and consumers not on this list) - especially as
none of the requests require rocket scientists to implement.

At the very, very least, the addition of a paragraph in the README, echoing
the text on the website would be a good idea, no matter how much you oppose
it - particularly since it involves ZERO effort on the hallowed programmer's
part.... and simple common sense would suggest that the updater should
provide proper error feedback if it fails to update certain files (though
you probably believe that error feedback is for whimps as well, I assume).

It really doesn't matter - as I said earlier, this is a relatively pointless
discussion, at least in relation to your counterpoints.
