I honestly don't remember, but these "invisible" messages aren't from news
-- all of them are from POP email.

I don't have the deleted items folder set to delete automatically, but I
empty it manually, quite often. (It doesn't seem like the problem is
occurring with messages that I am deleting at the present, I should note --
it appears to just be some, 10,000 or so, of the ones from when I archived
my mail.)

None of the folders that are visible in Entourage. Before I archived my
email out of the Entourage database, I had my emails categorized into many
separate folders. After the emails were archived, I deleted everything. The
folders that are showing up in the custom view (and in search) are the names
of the folders they were in when they were deleted.

Strange, isn't it?
