You can do what you did more easily within Entourage itself, by going to > your account in Tools/Accounts and checking Online Access in the Options > page there. that will put your server into your folder list. You can click > on it there, and see all the messages on the server: it's like a poor man's > IMAP. You can turn off the Preview Pane, select a bad message, and delete > it.
