I expect it will be fixed. 2) hasn't been mentioned anywhere yet, although I expect the developers are aware of it. However: I find that it just works anyway. If you double-click the saved text file, it opens in TextEdit (all "TEXT" file-type and .txt extension files are opened in TextEdit if they don't have creators.) Furthermore, and to my surprise, even the OS 10.1.1 Finder will open it in TextEdit when asked to in AppleScript, although the creator type is "????".
