Recently I had an Entourage identity which had 10,000 e-mail's in it, and the messages database got all the way up to 130 MB. This was after holding down the option key during a open command and rebuilding the databases. I believe at one point I all so performed the secondary rebuild option - which says only do this after the first one was completed.
Anyway after all the rebuilds - the messages database remained very near 130 MB. Basically, this seems extensively large. In comparison, I believe Eudora's file system is much more space affective - and 10,000 e-mail's in the Eudora folder would be something in the neighborhood of half that file size. Question 1: what's the deal with attachments ? if an e-mail comes in with an attachment , where is that attachment stored - in the messages database? Question 2: if your request to save that attachment on your desktop, do you now have two copies of that attachment? In order to save the file size in your Entourage messages database, would you have to hit the remove button - and remove that attachment to save space? Question 3: Do the file sizes for the message database remain large even after you have emptied the deleted mail from the deleted mail folder? Question 4: does the Entourage program ever rebuild itself automatically, or do you always have to hold the option key when loading it? Question 5: Are there any general tricks for keeping the file Ent message database sizes small? -- Thanks, RevDave Great Names for Sale at: http: //www.Domains4Days.com -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
