What usually happens is they provide a customized browser and some sort of client software that either configures the system or makes the actual connection (e.g., handles the establishment of the PPoE connection for DSL) or both. This software is usually only for Windows and that is why they state they do not support Macintosh.
If you have any understanding of networking, you do not need (and probably do not want) this customized browser and associated setup software.
