Whats the filesystem got to do with anything? The DB is only relevant for exchanging _files_ between _clients_; for a client talking to a server, the DB format is irelevant. While MAPI is nice to have for those situations where IMAP/SMTP/POP3 have been disabled, to the rest its entirely irrelevant whether the transport is this TLA or that TLA. The interesting part is the features supported by the clients; and Entourage does something like 80% of the features needed from an Exchange client, and could easily support more. And then you can compare the effort required to add the remaining bits to Entourage versus porting Outlook:mac over to Mac OS X! In fact, Im having trouble seeing a single sane reason why _not_ to do this. Outlook:mac is free, whereas Entourage is making money for MS. The effort involved in developing the needed features in Entourage is (appears to be) much smaller then that involved in maintaining and updating Outlook:mac. And the amount of work involved -- traded off against other things that could be done and the value it brings -- suggests this is one of the better investments that could be made. Not necessarily because it will sell Entourage to businesses using Exchange; but because it might sell _Exchange_ to businesses using Macs who want something better then EIMS on Mac OS 8.x/9.x or Sendmail *shudder* on a Linux box. -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
