Another solution would be to combine the contact databases from each identity and add a field to specify which identity the record belongs to. Then the database daemon could still manage the database and serve the appropriate contacts to each Office program depending on which identity was selected. Then the concept of a shared contact could be introduced that would be available and common to all identities. Of course you would need a utility to export only one identities contacts when you want to take them on the road or move to another machine. I guess that means there is a need for another utility to merge any changes back into the common database when you return. Wait a minute, this looks like it could turn into real work in redesign and programming - - well beyond the original issue discussed here. And we haven't even considered what would have to happen to split the existing single database and still keep the capability to link contact information with e-mail, tasks, notes, etc. I'm happy with the way things are now and am not looking for a complete redesign with its resultant functionality changes in the near future (Yes Paul, I am still using Office 2001 until the Entourage to Palm sync is ready in OSX, but I do have both packages on my desk waiting to install). Although the concept of a shared contact would be useful in the home environment.
