Yes, that's fine. The problem I was alluding to is when some SMTP servers, usually belonging to larger IAPs with lazy abuse desks, prevent you from sending mail through the server if you're not using *their* email address in your From header. I wasn't sure if EarthLink/MindSpring did that.
