The chances are very high that your Emailer database is corrupt and that's
why there are problems importing. Unfortunately Emailer did not have a
Rebuild Database feature.

I have found, when importing from text files derived from other PIMS such as
Outlook Windows, that the field remapping works beautifully. I think this
may be more evidence of corruption in Emailer. I hadn't noticed any omission
of first characters, but I didn't look at previews all that closely. Is this
a serous problem for you?

If there are corrupt messages, that could happen. next time, first turn OFF
the Preview Pane (View menu, or command-\). Now there should be no freezing
or crashing, and you should be able to delete without problem.

It sounds like you have a corrupted IMPORT, rather than a corrupted install.
A few hundred thousand people (maybe millions by now) have not had those
problems.

It's very possible. Did you use the Office X Remover on the CD? If not, you
should probably use it now, then reinstall from the CD. It won't touch your
data, which is in the Office X Identities folder of the Microsoft User Data
folder in the Documents folder of your OS X user in Users folder.

But, probably, it's the data that's corrupt, rather than the application. To
fix it, start up Entourage holding down Option key, First try the Typical
rebuild. But I think you'll probably need to go back to do the Advanced
Rebuild. That fixes this sort of problem just about every time its needed.

Yes, you'll need those updates again too if you reinstall, of course.
