I hate to correct this point, but Emailer *does* have a Database Rebuild
feature that is exactly like Entourage's (Though I'm sure jud has improved
the rebuild routines since he first helped create Emailer).

What about disk corruption causing problems with the import?

I agree with Paul on this one. Try opening the exported text file in Excel
and see if any of the fields have odd characters or missing data

If you don't have too much invested in Entourage yet, you might just toss
out your MUD folder and start from scratch. Try with a fresh identity with
no imported data to see how stable EvX is for you and continue using Emailer
to reference you old mail. Not ideal, but it'll help you eliminate E'rage as
the cause of your problems.
