That's true, isn't it? Oddly, so far I have not encountered a message I wanted to reply to where anyone was posting about Entourage using a different mail client! Maybe that's because (1) I only hit the newsgroup every week or two, and (2) I skip over lots of messages due to lack of time. You and Paul do a lot more replying than I do. > > I have taken to inserting that request in each message I reply to where the > mail client hasn't been stated mainly as an exercise in education and partly > because I can do it easily. I wrote a script that I use to insert > bioler-plate text into outgoing messages (I use notes to store the text > chunks, and the script displays a list of all notes that have a category of > 'Stationery' and you can choose one or more to insert). I have a similar script, or set of scripts now, that use text files to do the same thing. This came about because I used to use EmailTools with Emailer, that had a folder of text files you could insert with a OneClick button. I adapted the OneClick button for OE and E2001, but when we moved to OS X I was stuck; so I developed a script to do it. It even allows subfolders, and lets you escape from the usual folder and browse for text files elsewhere if you want. Secondary scripts are set up to invoke Tex-Edit Plus to edit the text files, and to copy a message to create a new text file. I have not posted these because I'm thinking about charging for them to help finance the advanced hardware I want/need to support my MVP efforts, beyond what my actual job really requires (my office is still running 9.1, and they had a machine on 8.5 until quite recently). > I sent this (and a > few others0 off to ASC a week or two back, but Eric must be busy because he > hasn't posted them yet (although he has acknowledged receipt). I've gotten a bit disillusioned with ASC. It's a nice concept, but Eric falls behind quite often. And recently, I sent him a bunch of scripts and, after about a month, he sent me a message saying he'd lost them all and could I resend. I have not, because I didn't have any easy way to determine exactly what I'd sent him! Someone offered me free web space for my own archives, and I began to set that up. But then I realized that, since I am on DSL and online 24/7, there is little reason for me not to just set up my own web server using the tools Apple has so helpfully provided. Well, the main reason is that my machine is so slow, comparatively. I'm going to do it, but it may wait until I get my new iMac in about 4 to 6 weeks. -- My web page: <http://home.earthlink.net/~allenwatson/> My scripts page: <http:homepage.mac.com/allenwatson> Microsoft MVP for Mac Entourage/Word--<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
