Sometimes dragging the folders to the desktop and into a new identity will
solve the problem. 

After you move a folder to new identify. Delete original folder and try
rebuild.  

You can open the messages file in BBEdit or other text editor.  You'll have
the text and the headers to show you who it was from, when, etc.

I suggest in the future to make backups of your Identity folder on a regular
basis. Set a Task to remind you. :-)
