Good guess. That's what I did. Yikes, that's what I always do!

By the way, I don't see "Microsoft Database Daemon" in the Process Viewer. I
see all kinds of other background processes, though.

Does the database daemon start running as soon as Entourage X is launched?
Does it quit if you quit Entourage? What are some other easy ways to quit
the demon, so that one can copy the MUD folder over to a CD or external
backup drive?

In response to another question, - I am in X on both computers, same version
of everything. All updates on both computers.
