How would I know? -- A compare of cause is useless, as it will
always fail if data is flushed to disk while the backup is in progress.

So, how do I determine a good backup of a database in consistent
state from a backup of a corrupted backup -- other than by
testing the database in Entourage?

btw, in my initial testing, E'rage 2001 and Retrospect 4.0 seem
to play nice together -- looks like E'rage delays flushes to disk
while the database is being backed up.
I'm not 100% certain, though -- if anybody else has done similar
testing, I'd be glad to see your results posted to the list.

TIA,
-Thomas
