It's got a ruddy great icon that's totally unlike anything else - why would
you want an intrusive dialog box?

You stated yourself - you have a life, you don't read all your mail as soon
as you receive it. So will the dialog pop up when the mail arrives, and
force you to break your workflow to deal with mail you don't want to read
just now, or will the dialog pop up when you read the mail, in which case
you are no better off than you are now.
