The only way it will be "stealth" is if you a) set your system to tentative
accept invitations and b) don't read your incoming mail. For your previous
description of your actions, both a) and b) are true. If you have a problem
with the current operation, then you can change your preferences to resolve
situation a), or read all your incoming mail to resolve b). Either will
prevent the problem you seem to be having.
