OK, I've held off using my Handspring Visor until Entourage had a conduit.
Now it does, and I've used the Visor successfully -- sort of. I promptly
rediscovered the eternal truth that synchronization of two machines isn't
easy.

After the initial one-way sync from Entourage to the Visor, I went out to do
errands. I took the Visor along and dutifully deleted To-do, Note and
Calendar items, and modified others. Then I returned home and did a two-way
sync, hoping that Entourage and HotSync Manager were smart enough to make
intelligent decisions about which items were more recent as between the
Visor and the Mac. No such luck. So now all the items I deleted have been
reinstated on the Visor instead of being deleted from Entourage, and altered
notes have been restored on the Visor to their original contents.
Fortunately, new appointments, To-dos and Notes were successfully added to
Entourage.

So, what's the best way to handle deletions and edits on a Visor or Palm in
practice? When departing and returning does one always launch HotSync
Manager and set each application to a one-way sync in the right direction?
This is awkward, to say the least. The Conduit Settings window is hidden
away in a HotSync Manager menu without even a toolbar to make it easy to
bring up, and once it's open I have to double-click the Entourage conduit
and set all of its options manually.

I see that I can write an AppleScript to open the Conduit Settings window.
That's a help, I guess. But I still have to double-click the Entourage
conduit and do all the rest manually. There doesn't seem to be any way to
save multiple sync settings as separate documents.

Am I overlooking something?

And there's the lack of multiple categories per to-do or note item, the lack
of categories at all on calendar events, and, worst of all, the fact that
syncing from the Visor to Entourage causes all of my Entourage multi-day
events to magically turn into single day events. Basically, it appears to me
that if I want to use a Palm device together with Entourage, I have to
cripple Entourage. (I understand that this is a Palm issue, not a Microsoft
issue, but still....)
