Title: Re: Entourage, Address Book, and iSync
Actually, that is not all the furigana fields – there are also the childrens’ furigana – but I will take your word for it that these are also scriptable.

The unicode situation, while annoying, is not the issue in this case. I’ll have to dig up the list of missing fields again, and see what has actually been fixed in the various updates.

However, we are getting pretty far off topic. In summary, I would prefer direct synchronization of the Address Book database and Entourage’s contacts, not a script based solution.

Basically, I want to eat my cake and have it too. I want to use Entourage, but I also want the contacts in the Address Book for use by Apple applications and .Mac as well as applications I write myself.

If I can get the company to use an IMAP server, then I can use Mail to handle all the messages and attachments that Entourage cannot handle properly, yet still have Entourage as my main application.

But all the furigana fields are scriptable. I mentioned that twice in this thread already:

first name furigana
last name furigana
company furigana
spouse furigana
blood type

What may be bothering you is that there is - as yet - no script editor which accepts Unicode characters typed in from the keyboard. That is hardly Entourage's fault, is it? But if you can get the data in some other way, it works. (Selection in TextEdit, for example,  or from an Entourage note.) Actually, it might worth checking out the new Script Editor 2.0 beta that comes with Developer Tools Dec 2002. It's Cocoa, so maybe it works.  The next version of Script Debugger will be able to do it, for sure
