A couple of us who are involved with the Entourage Help Page (<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/>) have recently revisited the subject of extra carriage returns when copying and pasting from Word into Entourage. We've found that our FAQ on this subject (<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/faqs.html#Anchor-63>) is at least partially wrong; unfortunately we're having trouble figuring out exactly what is right!
If any of you out there � using OS 10.2.6/Office 10.1.2 � have an extra 20 minutes to spare, we could really use some help trying to reproduce the results we've gotten so far. Here's the procedure to follow: Start by creating four identical documents in Word X as follows: Normal template; 12 point font; type a two-line paragraph, copy it, and paste it four times below that first paragraph. Here are the variables: Doc 1: Normal Style with an extra return between paragraphs (1 blank line) Doc 2: Normal Style, with 12 pt "Space After" (no extra return) Doc 3: Body Text Style with an extra return between paragraphs Doc 4: Body Text Style, 12 pt "Space After" (you'll have to modify the style since it has a 6 pt Space After by default) (no extra return) Now, try the following: 1) Copy the text in Doc 1 (Normal, extra return) and paste it into a plain text message in Entourage X. 2) Copy the text in Doc 1 (Normal, extra return) and paste it into an HTML message in Entourage X. 3) Doc 2 (Normal, space after) to plain text. 4) Doc 2 (Normal, space after) to HTML. 5) Doc 3 (Body Text, extra return) to plain text. 6) Doc 3 (Body Text, extra return) to HTML. 7) Doc 4 (Body Text, space after) to plain text. 8) Doc 4 (Body Text, space after) to HTML. For anyone who takes this on, thank you VERY much. So as not to clog up the list with myriad responses :-), feel free to report your results directly to me (<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>). I'll post back here with the final results. We need to know how many spaces � if any � ended up between paragraphs in each of the 8 Entourage messages.
