You didn't properly install the Entourage conduit. It's been a long time since Office 2001 for me, but I recall an installer for the Entourage sync conduit. The installer would have disabled Palm's conflicting conduits by moving them to a disabled folder and installed the conduit in the proper place. You shouldn't have had to manually place any files. Maybe you moved the installer into the Extensions folder? In your Palm application folder you will find a "Palm OS Updates" folder. When you first sync, the Palm Installer conduit tries to install the latest update version from this folder onto the Palm device. The Palm OS 3.5.3 apparently can't be applied to your Palm device and so you got this error.
