I didn't create this folder, nor did I ever save things to it intentionally. That could be causing the slowdown. Now if only I could figure out what that "something" is. Nigel Stranger asked if I'm running a rule that invokes a script. I do have such, using Spamsieve. Since my ISP filters my mail, I'm going to try turning that off and see if it solves the problem. I'll post my findings. Diane suggested using an IMAP server. Unfortunately, my ISP doesn't offer this, and I'm trying to keep my database of composed and sent messages the same on all three Macs as well, so that wouldn't be a solution anyway.
