I'm not sure this is the same problem, but... I provide hosting for my clients. Recently, AOL implemented severe spam prevention measures which targeted domains, IP numbers and email servers.

One of my clients has sporadic email rejection from AOL addresses. He did get communication errors. However, they were in the form of return email notices rather than pop up boxes. I do not know whether Entourage checks the mail server "handshake" prior to sending.

As other have mentioned, I can find no reference to the 3260 error.
