Diane, Thanks for your reply. I established that the preference was checked, removed both files suggested, rebooted the computer, connected to Entourage and 120 spam emails were there and all the Microsoft files with 140kb attachments still downloaded!!! some 15 of them.
Some come from Microsoft Administrator talking about "patches", others from Microsoft .com advising that "message returned could not be delivered." The attachments are often named as follows, agysapq.exe or variations of the first seven letters Is it likely that since this was the first time I had started Entourage after removing the files you suggested that your suggestion will work_next_ time?
