I've had the dual G5 and Panther working well for over a week. I can confirm a truly unpleasant EntX effect. When I select an HTML email, with the preview pane open, the CPU meters kick up (menu meter) and then the fans go on!
If I change to a text email, calendar, contacts, notes or other app, like the Finder, Excel, anything...the CPU usage meters drop and the fans stop or slow down. I move back to the HTML email in EntX, whirrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! Out of HTML mail, peace and quiet. The key is that Preview Pane is shown and an HTML document selected EVEN IF a text email window is open and in front of the window with the Preview Pane. Turn off the Preview Pane, no CPU increase and subsequent fan noise. This all shows up in the Activity Monitor as well. %users jumps to 40, % system to 15. Clearly an EntX/HTML thing. Is this EntX/HTML/Preview Pane CPU usage well known? I don't think I've noticed it with the prior Wind Tunnel G4 dual 1 gig running OS 10.2.8.
