I would be VERY surprised if you got a response from huge companies like
Apple or Palm. In my experience, they get too much mail to write back. Sad,
but true. Even when you report a bug that they subsequently fix, they don't
write to thank you.
I also think it's unfortunate but inevitable that products will become
obsolete. However, it is absurd that Apple sells products on their web site
without firm commitments of support from the vendors. That's very bad
policy.
Is there an Apple store near you? That's how I would proceed, not through
email.
