I agree that's probably the cause - existing prefs with bad permissions or
corrupt in some other way. The correct way to remove all these - and others
that are invisible - is to use the Office Remover app in Microsoft Office
2004/Additional Tools/Office Remover. That's the best, most thorough method.
It will _not_ touch your data. Then reinstall. This is probably all that
needs doing. You could try Remo's suggestion and just remove those files to
start with. If that doesn't help, use the Office Remover.
