I don't see an "edit" button, just the "increase font size" and "rewrap paragraphs" buttons. The window doesn't seem that narrow, even with the folders showing, but it is wider with the folders gone. I notice that your message had a bunch of white space to the right of where the lines wrapped when I did collapse folders, so then I tried just making that column a bit narrower and spreading the whole window to the far right of my screen (using all the "real estate" I have) and things look good even with the folders showing. So maybe that's the solution.
