Actually, you just need to assign the compiled scripts the "ToyS" creator code after saving them in SD. That's what I do with all my compiled scripts before posting them to web sites. Still, there's still the little matter of people being able to download them easily and us not having to provide picture-perfect documentation. > No, a more universal solution is demanded. > > I really think the MBU should include the conditional code so compiled > scripts will work for both Panther and Jaguar. Script Editor 1.9 in Jaguar saves them this way, and they've added new features (probably connected with the new "script bundle" format, which mandate the new saved-script format. They do provide APIs which apparently are excellent and easy to implement - BUT work only in Panther. I gather that conditional code would not be a simple matter of if/then because the new APIs (probably the old ones too) are at a deeper level. It seems that's why Smile has also omitted conditional code (providing the weird scenario that Smile now saves scripts in the new format in both Jaguar and Panther but properties are saved only when run in Jaguar). > People should not have > to struggle to runs scripts, and scripters should not need different > versions for Panther and Jaguar. Right. Entourage 2004 is here for several years, and more and more people will have Panther or later, fewer and fewer with Jaguar. It ought to work with Panther's script editor. -- Paul Berkowitz MVP MacOffice Entourage FAQ Page: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/index.html> AppleScripts for Entourage: <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/> PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using - **2004**, X or 2001.
