Why do you say that? In the US, if you pay $20 a year or so for POP access,
you can use Yahoo via POP within Entourage. Perhaps Richard should tell us
if he uses his ISP's SMTP server or Yahoo's SMTP server for sending mail on
his Yahoo account. His ISP might not permit him to use Yahoo's SMTP server -
and this might even be a recent development corresponding with the behavior
change two weeks ago. Some ISPs (like Earthlink) forbid relaying to other
SMTP servers than their own.

So if he has to use his ISP's server, he should _not_ be authenticating with
"same settings as receiving server", since the receiving server is Yahoo's.
Either he does not need authentication, or else he needs to fill in the user
name and password that he uses with the ISP's servers, not Yahoo's. Richard
says that he tried not authenticating, and it doesn't work. But did he try
first providing the "mail.drshane.com" or "smtp.drshane.com" server address,
or whatever the correct SMTP server address is?

Richard, first try that. Check in your _other account_
([EMAIL PROTECTED]), what the SMTP server address is (sending server), and
use exactly the same settings for the Yahoo account's SMTP server settings.
If [EMAIL PROTECTED] does not require authentication, then don't use it
for Yahoo account either. If it _does_ require authentication, then you must
fill in _both_ the user name and the password that you use for
[EMAIL PROTECTED] _receiving_ (POP or IMAP) server, but enter it only for
"Advanced sending options" in the Yahoo account; i.e. "Requires
Authentication" and then the second radio button where you enter the precise
user name and password.

(It did not sound to me as if Richard is using the same laptop computer at
home, as Barry suspects, but it's possible. If that's the case, my script
"SMTP Location X" can handle this automatically, _if_ you use separate
Locations, not Automatic, in Network System Preferences.)
