For what it's worth, I finally had to upgrade my husband to OS X, kicking and screaming all the way. Our good friend and my husband's mother followed suit a short time later. Why? Because I could no longer figure out why they couldn't get on the 'net. Stay on the 'net. View web pages. Get email. Etc. I tried modem scripts, I tried other ISPs, etc., and the one thing that made life easier for all of them was moving to OS X. OS 9 is so far out of development that I'm not sure it's able to effectively communicate with current standards -- whether its modem scripts or web page coding or some other language or what.
What's interesting is that all three of them had different ISPs: Husband: Charter.net and Earthlink, Outlook Express Mother-in-law: AOL, AOL's software Friend: Core.com, Outlook Express I couldn't keep any of them online and receiving mail, reliably, in OS 9. But that's just my anecdotal experience. YMMV. peace, Linda On 9/17/05 8:52 PM, Diane Ross wrote: > On 9/16/05 10:33 PM, "Louise Stewart" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >> For weeks now, nearly every day, at no particular time of the day, I¹m unable >> to send or receive email.
