I am surprised by your question. The next letter in the name they are
looking for. You keep typing the name until you see the person listed. For
example, when searching for Matthew just start typing Matthew. Once you get
to Mat, any names not starting with Mat will be replaced in the list with
ones that do.

Yes. It does seem a bit strange that you can tab into the list and not into
the search field.

I am a bit confused by how your clients address messages. I was under the
assumption that they were not great with the keyboard and used the mouse
more. They would type a letter and then use the mouse to scroll through the
list. I must be wrong as you now say they want to use the tab key.

Can you explain how the 8 item limit is frustrating them, as I can't see it
as an issue.
