Why ever not? You thinks it interferes with your free speech right under the

Now that's a better way to look at it. As I said,, when MS started doing
this, they were the only ones, there was no better place. Apple had only
just created an official "blessed" Documents folder in OS 9. The only
alternative would have been somewhere in the System Folder - worse idea.

Now that OS X has a Library folder within the user folder, where most users
don't venture much, and an Application Support folder within that, it looks
like a good place. It would be a very big change to how Office works to do
this (and will surely upset lots of people used to the present setup) so
don't expect it for any sort of dot update. It might be something they could
think about for a major version. Time will tell.
