Hmmmm. That does not sound like it's a root certficate. When I look at root
certificates in Keychain Access, I see:
Name of Certificate
Root certificate authority (or in some cases, Self-signed root certificate)
Expires: Some date in the future
[green check] This certificate is valid

That you have a red X and an error reason is telling me it is ignoring the
certificate. That is says "signed by an unknown authority" makes me pretty
sure it's not a root certificate since by their nature, root certificates
can be self-signed.
