Entourage is more or less is already in caching mode, everything is stored locally, and as far as I know you can't turn this off or change the interval.  The synchronization unfortunately doesn't work nearly as well as cached exchange mode on the PC though, probably having to do with the protocols used (PC uses RPC while Entourage uses WebDAV).

However, I just saw your latest email.  I was assuming you meant the synchronization status in the bottom-right of the Entourage window was constantly going, not the spinning beach ball.

Is there a way for me to turn off the syncronization process. On the pC side there is "cacheing mode". Is there something similiar with Entourage. I have definetly seen varying results based on mailbox side.

As for Public folders we are not using any at this time

It may have something to do with which Public Folders are marked as being their "Favorites."  Public Folders marked as Favorites are synchronized along with the user's mailbox; all other Public Folders are reloaded from the server each time a user clicks on them.

Mailbox size could also be a cause of this; the more items in the mailbox, the more there is for Entourage to check in the synchronization process.

Subject: Entourage 2004 syncing with Exchange 2003

We have a mixed environment Windows XP and Entourage 2004. It seems that select Entourage users are having a continuing synchronization problem with the Exchanges server 2003. All other PC's and remaining Entrourage email users are working fine.

It only seems to be a hand full of users on the MAC side.

I checked the settings between Entourage users and cannot find and  difference. I am not that familiar with this client so any help would  be appreciated.

Thanks
