This is unacceptable behavior. > Is Entourage's database system designed this way? > A possible final data point is that the problem "seems" to be worse when > connecting to Exchange. But that also may be incorrect. Exchange can slow you down, but that's not my area of expertise so I'll let someone else address the fine points of how to download exchange. Step 1) First, let's get your POP and IMAP accounts working. Create a new Identity in Entourage enter account info for one account only. Set to leave mail on server for testing purposes. Download mail. What happens? Is everything OK? If yes, go to the step 2. If no, then go to step 3. Step 2) Now let's bring over some mail into this clean database. Under File --> Export. Select to export Items to an Entourage archive. Import the archive by switching Identity and use File --> Import. Select import Information from an Entourage archive. Test to download. What happens? If you are OK, then add additional accounts one at a time to see what account might be causing the problem. Leave the exchange account for last. Step 3) Use tcpflow to monitor the network traffic and let us know what happens. See directions here: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/tcpflow.html> When you get back to us make sure you give as much detail as possible. We specifically need to know what type of account when you report. One last question...How much free space do you have? Use the Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select Disk Usage in the bottom menu bar. -- Diane Ross, Microsoft Mac MVP Entourage Help Page <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> One of the top five MS Entourage resources listed on the Entourage Blog. <http://blogs.msdn.com/entourage/> -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
