Sometimes, on a support list like this, it's worth noting when a product does something right.
I was working late at my office tonight, putting the final touches on a long complex email. I was re-reading it for the last time, checking for typos, etc. Just when I was ready to hit the Send button, the Mac's screen goes grey, with the dreaded message: "You must restart your computer..." Kernel panic. Out of nowhere. I sat there disconsolate, staring at the portions of my unsaved document that were visible behind the error dialog. I could not save, I could not scroll, I could not even take a screenshot. One hour's work, down the hole. I pressed the power button and rebooted. I fired up Entourage again. To my utter surprise, the message reappeared on screen, behind a dialog reporting that this document was restored from its state before a crash, would I like to save it or continue writing? And the message was all there. Everything, including my last edits. This was a case where Entourage did something right. I think Word, and maybe some of the other Office apps have the same ability to recover from crashes. They keep a working copy of the current document saved to disk at all times, ready for an emergency recovery. -- Julian Vrieslander <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
