Good call folks.  MLM was the culprit.  I swear, before tonight, I never
even realized what MLM did.

I would guess I had an over-zealous user who played around with MLM once,
created a default rule, and we've been struggling with it ever since.

I am hopeful that the problem is solved now.

A few more days of watching and waiting should confirm this for me.
